Is this Physics? Is this Math or is this Computer Science?
There was a time when some proponents of CA declared it as 'A New Science'.
But I think due to the lack of participations, the field has taken the back seat.
The algorithms of cellular automaton (not automation) is very similar to Genetic
Algorithm. Fractal science has probably originated from CA.
I have a strong feeling cellular automata will come back in a big way in 20-50 years,
much stronger than string theory. CA has all the ingredients for evolution of nature.
String theory can not be verified without gigantic expensive equipment, on the other
hand, verifications of CA can be found everywhere in nature.
All CA need now are a few brilliant brains to demonstrate it not only can explain but
can also predict natural phenomena.
