Cool Craters on the Moon

Check out this Crater:

I wonder what that material is that appears to be splashed out of the crater? What kind of minerals and how deep below the surface it came. There appears to be a shallow depression just to the "north". Perhaps it is from there.

I apologize for the blurryness, but the wind was strong and the scope was shaking. Still, here is a nice clear shot of another area:

Look how the crater in the middle has a series of smaller craters in it. These smaller depressions are all very similar. I wonder if they were all made at the same time.

Just craters on top of craters on top of craters, like different layers. I wonder if future lunar geologists will sample these areas and use the data to reconstruct the various bombardments that have effected the moon. It would be nice to see how this data compares with Earths geological record.

In any event, they certainly are interesting
