Title asks it all. Anyone know roughly how much the older probes cost to keep supplied with mission control and scientists?

Josh

We need a first generation of pioneers.

I wasn't sure of Pioneer status. Anyway, if it's only a couple of million, should those functions be transferred to SETI, Planetary Society or other foundation? There is a strong possibility of existing, marginal projects to be cut in the next round, look at what went down this week.

Thoughts?

Josh

We need a first generation of pioneers.

What does SETI have to do with Pioneer and Voyager?

I think a significant fraction of the money goes towards buying DSN time.

I believe SETI used Pioneer 10/11 for calibration while they were still alive.
