The asteroid impact released large quantities of dust
into the atmosphere by crashing into the Earth.
This dust blocked the rays of the sun from
reaching Earth's surface, and this is bad news for plants
Well, as far as I know, sun's rays don't even reach ground level in the Amazons and some parts of African savanna. But still, there are plants that grow there. If that can happen today, I won't be surprised if it happened millions of years ago.
