Absolutely astounding. And such an elegantly simple method, too.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

"And thanks to Northrop Grumman for the nav system…

http://www.primezone.com/newsroom/?d=81673"

They say:
"Much like a wine glass which rings when it is struck, the hemispherical-resonator gyro is a precisely machined glass hemispherical shell mounted within the spacecraft that is forced to ring by an electrical field," said Lawrence Linick, program manager for the Deep Impact program at Northrop Grumman. "Any rotation of the spacecraft containing the gyro will change the frequency or pitch of this ring. This change in pitch can then be detected within the gyro to determine the exact orientation of the spacecraft in space. This orientation information is then provided by the scalable SIRU to the space vehicle in order to guide it in its mission. The ringing vibration is so minute that it creates virtually no internal stress and fatigue effects in the gyro, leading to its unmatched reliability."

"Much like a wine glass which rings when it is struck..."

Hey, in our world nothing is simple like to drink a wine glass.

This presumption reveals their lies.

"This change in pitch can then be detected within the gyro to determine the exact orientation of the spacecraft in space".

How does it works, Nasa buffoons?
Oops...sorry. Off topic. Mods?

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

bigbrain,

It is plain as day do not know a thing about what you are talking about.

You should give a nice round of applause to those who were responsible for the fantastic "Deep Impact" mission and it will go down into history as such. Either get on the train of reality and accept those facts or get left behind.

Now, Stardust is on its way back with samples from another comet, which was another fantastic voyage from the folks of NASA and others who were part of the action.

bigbrain---How does it works, Nasa buffoons?

bigbrain,

You mean to say that you can't think of anything to distort the facts?

Better give that brain a rest because I am beginning to think that running that brain amoke for so long has finally drained the battery.

bigbrain---Hey, in our world nothing is simple like to drink a wine glass.

bigbrain,

With consumption of enough wine, it won't make any difference one way or the other what the rest of the world is doing.
