I thought I would start a thread dedicated to Deep Impact Imaging, didn't want to ******-up
someone else’s discussion on the other threads....I made an educated guess on the color since
RGB filter images are not available at this time.

This is where you can find the grayscale images I posted below. Cant wait for the official color of
the impact before and after.

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/deepimpact/multimedia/index.html

PIA02123.5
Ron Bennett

Great Images, Thanks

Did you pick that color scheme for accuracy or just for clarity?

Rhodan, vogon13, telfrow, hurricane4911, yurkin,

Thanks every one I have been waiting a long time for this. I’m lucky to have some of the tools to enhance
it after the fact.

I proposed something similar many years ago writing and then e-mailing [the internet was very young then]
everyone that would listen. I proposed that they should crash Galileo, which would have been at the
end of its extended mission into Europa, while the newly launched Cassini was in the neighborhood.
It never happened for debatable reasons, now after the Lunar Prospector and now the phenomenal
work JPL did with Deep Impact I am at peace with the idea that it would work and it is one of the best
ways to extract out deeply held secrets of other worlds….

Ron Bennett

Did you pick that color scheme for accuracy or just for clarity?

Mostly for clarity. Note - I colored a couple images grayish to hedge my bet. Won't know the real color
until they release a color composite.

121525main_approach-x4-516-

Ron Bennett

Some of the space sites should pay you to use your images. I have not seen better.

Some of the space sites should pay you to use your images. I have not seen better.

Thanks

In the back rooms and back allies of JPL, NASA and ESA they are doing this with much more
expensive equipment resulting in much greater detail. Since it is an acquired original image from JPL
Proprietary information (copyright protected against someone trying to sell the original image ) can
someone get paid to enhance it, good question? Right now I am just guessing at the color because I did
this from one image, not the three filtered RGB images needed to be more exact on the color scheme. It
has to be processed in a more exact science at JPL to release it in color because the whole world is watching.
Ron Bennett
