The Deep Impact Probe is to impact on July 4th. I heard it might be visible to the naked eye. At what time and from what locations on earth might it be visible from?

I believe Hawaii is the best location, Mauna Kea observatories. If I remember correctly, the western half of the 48 states of the USA will be the eastern portion of viewing area.

The initial flash of impact may or may not be visible- I do not know the exact time.

However, the influence on the tail will be visible gradually for a fairly long time.

I'll let others post details.

What are the odds that the Hawaii observatory will put a telescope-cam on the web for the world to watch along?
