Did a comet strike 13,000 years ago change human civilization as we know it?

I note this in the space.com report. "This major cosmic catastrophe seems to have been memorialized on the giant stone pillars of Göbekli Tepe [in Turkey], possibly the 'World's first temple,' which is linked with the origin of civilization in the Fertile Crescent of southwest Asia. Did civilization, therefore, begin with a bang?" Sweatman said in a statement."

Gobekli Tepe is very popular in various archaeology reports too. Here are some other past reports associating this site with astronomy. Ancient carvings show comet hit Earth and triggered mini ice age, https://www.newscientist.com/articl...w-comet-hit-earth-and-triggered-mini-ice-age/, April 2017.

Ancient stone pillars offer clues of comet strike that changed human history, https://phys.org/news/2017-04-ancient-stone-pillars-clues-comet.html, April 2017. Ref - More information: DECODING GÖBEKLI TEPE WITH ARCHAEOASTRONOMY: WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY? (pp.233-250). B. Sweatman, D. Tsikritsis, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.400780 , http://www.maajournal.com/Issues2017a.php (PDF) "ABSTRACT We have interpreted much of the symbolism of Göbekli Tepe in terms of astronomical events. By matching low-relief carvings on some of the pillars at Göbekli Tepe to star asterisms we find compelling evidence that the famous 'Vulture Stone' is a date stamp for 10950 BC ± 250 yrs, which corresponds closely to the proposed Younger Dryas event, estimated at 10890 BC. We also find evidence that a key function of Göbekli Tepe was to observe meteor showers and record cometary encounters. Indeed, the people of Göbekli Tepe appear to have had a special interest in the Taurid meteor stream, the same meteor stream that is proposed as responsible for the Younger-Dryas event..."

There is plenty taking place to associate drawings/carvings at this site to astronomy. My observation. The astronomical view is based upon interpretation of some of the pillar carvings. This does not seem as secure as astronomical dates established using Babylonian and Assyrian eclipses recorded on clay tablets. There is also precession and the Sun's changing position during the equinoxes and solstices. The space.com report wraps up with, "While the new study work is exciting and suggestive, the team acknowledges that more evidence and more research is necessary to better understand how this impact could have affected global climate and, ultimately, human civilizations, according to the statement."

I'm reminded that Australia is now experiencing a "plague" of mice; which is simply over population for the existing resources. It has happened in Australia before and in other places with different species. Nature resolves such "problems" with mass death and/or natural selection as the agent of Evolution. Now if one factors in an asteroid/comet strike (or in our case, the lunacy of a nuclear war), species evolution or extinction seems an expected outcome.
