I have found myself wondering for a time that why on earth do they use SRB-s when they need to lift a 25 ton payload only and currently have the capability to lift 77.8 tons. It seems a bit of an overkill to me. If the trouble is to lift the rocket out of the launch pad, use appropriate amount of GEM 60-s as in Delta IV

Looks like Direct 3.0 will be seen by the Augustine Commission... VERY GOOD NEWS IMHO
