It would seem our universe went FTL (faster than light) early at high density and slowed down but is now accelerating to FTL again.<br /><br />If so - is the cause of both FTL events the same or different?<br /><br />Why would the universe speed up, slow down and then speed up again?<br /><br />Is this some kind of oscillation on a grand scale?<br /><br />Does this have any connection with the temperature change of the IGM (ingtergalactic medium)?<br /><br />The IGM also heated up, cooled down and is now heated up again.<br /><br />See the Scientific American article entitled "The emptiest places" where this is documented by studies of the now extremely ionized and hot IGM and its past history.
