What happens to the parachute and carrier that is blasted away on landing.

Or, they simply fall to the ground and just become part of the landscape.

So we are creating another Junk Yard just like the one circling the earth.

Yup!

Until we can figure out how to make all of our probes, rovers, landing machinery/equipment Mars Bio-degradable, I'm afraid we are. Of course, we have a hard enough time doing that on our home planet.

I supposed the first manned mission could grab this stuff for re-use or retrieval. However, I don't see that happening.
