What are your thoughts/suggestions concerning NASA TV?
I like the "Raw broadcast from NASA TV", but It would be great if someone was doing info commentary up till t-2 min or something. I'm for anything that boosts interest in our space program!

                            www.watchnasatv.com

                          ONE PERCENT FOR NASA!

I keep NASA TV on the internet tuned in, since even though it's 30-45 seconds slow, at least there are not idiot news anchors speaking over what's really going on. I don't have access to NASA-TV directly.
For real time info I watch CNN, MSNBC, C-SPAN, FNC, and anyone else who covers it live.
Last attempt ONLY fox had live coverage.
If it's anybody but C-SPAN, I keep the sound down very low so I'm not tempted to throw an object at the ignorant fools speaking over the NASA audio feed.
Can't afford a new TV for Christmas

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I will be out on US 19 here in Albany, GA to see it as I have twice before. I am 306 miles from the Cape and it appears low in the SE sky.

Hey SG, next time they do one of those slow pans around the firing room, could stand up and give us all a wave ??

Hmm, NASA may ask you to 'consider other career options' from Monday

Seriously, all the best to you, the team and the flight crew for tonight.

OK, they just did a pan and someone waved... Thanks for that, but please concentrate !

I'm from England watching NASA TV on the internet but will put the TV on near launch to get a clear picture!

Will be interested to see if the BBC and Sky News will even bother to cover it to be honest, I've not seen anything about it so far even with a British born astronaut on the shuttle.

Exactly my plan. My SE exposure is 4 minutes away. As soon as I see those SRB's drop off, it's into the car for a sprint to the lookout.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Combination viewing.

I watch the liftoff on HD-Net for 45 seconds, then run outside, plant myself in the middle of the street and look east as it climbs above the horizon

It was definately Yellow orange.
Could not judge brightness at MECO as it was heading into a layer of thin cirrus, so wouldn't want to trust any brightness estimates.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. About 23 degrees above the horizon at my observation site, but since it's on a hill the observed horizon is below the 0 degree horizon.
Got a call from one person I alerted tonight, they saw it, and he dragged 10 of his neigbors out for the show from the Poconos in NE PA.
Fortunately, I had seen the last nighttime launch (4 years ago) with an enthralled group of cub scouts and the WCBS Newsradio 880 afternoon anchor from this location, so knew exactly where to look

But the Krell forgot one thing John. We went out to the beach here in Charleston, SC. It was the first time I've seen one take off. We've gone down to the Cape twice to see Discovery take off but both times it was delayed.

We saw it great from Albany, GA (306 miles away). It came over the horizon at T+1 minute, arched to the north. Never got more than about 3 degrees above the horizon. We saw it travel about 5 degrees to the left. We saw SRB separation but could not see the main engines with the naked eye from this distance.

Yes we did. We saw them fall to the ocean. We were amazed that we were able to see so much. I regret that I didn't bring my camcorder.

Wow, i love this forum.

Thanks for all the feed back, and stories! I had to work late so ended up watching replay at 2 in the morning on NTV. It was a beauty! I'm silly...it brought tears to my eyes, and then the tank cam footage...just incredible.
I read through the launch thread...very cool. If I can next launch I'll watch NTV and log on here, join in the excitement!

                            www.watchnasatv.com

                          ONE PERCENT FOR NASA!
