Unfortunately, the chance of many of us to see any kind in-depth exploration (pardon the pun) of this moon, may not be in our life-times. Of course this unsubstantiated, unproven speculation - Just thought I'd spare steverino the trouble of posting this.

Life cannot exist at temps much below 0 C. because not only do the processes which drive metabolism cease, but liquid water, necessary for life does not exist. There is NO life made of ice. There is liquid water life.</font><br /><br />As usual you miss the point. Nobody doubts that the <font color="blue">surface temp.</font>is -180. It's the interior that is of interest. Along with the orbit, now we have visual evidence of a volcano to support the liquid interior theory. Coupled with the abundance of organic compounds, this leads the enlighted individual to the conclusion that life is possible. <br />
