That's right, they (www.steorn.net) said that their technology can create energy.

Now we all have seen these come and go over the years, but Physorg has published their challenge which IIRC is rather unprecedented in itself. I don't recall any of these kind of folks issuing such a challenge before.

I thought I'd post it just in case it's the real deal. Pretty darn far-fetched but this has a different flavor to it.

I always thought of the Law of Conservation of Energy when people said they could create energy.. "energy cannot be created nor destroyed"

That's the way the real world works
People can claim whatever they want.
I will check out their site later today, gotta run.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I'll reserve judgement until more detail are available. First appearance, though, seems kinda fishy.

"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson

If they can do it, why don't they power their own buildings and offices? When did they still stop paying the electric bill?

Irish huh? Probably drinkin too much Guinness.

Very Interesting. They seem to be claiming that their energy comes from nowhere (another dimension, unravelling quantum loops?). Hard to believe!

My question for any of these claims.

Why not wait until the claim can be broadly demonstrated in a way not unlike what Rutan did for the "X" prize? That is, don't make the claim until it can be unquestionably demonstrated in a very public way. Otherwise, they can claim big oil is supressing them if later their claim cannot be verified.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen...and those who do not know what happened.

Great Point, Yoda!
If you can make it why don't you use it for yourself.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. The more I look at this the more I think that the only reason this is special is that PhysOrg made the mistake of posting a story on it. Yeah, all they did was report on the issuing of a challenge, it's not like they endorsed it or anything, but still . . . I for one am not used to them publishing anything in their energy section that hasn't been 'vetted' at some level. I love PhysOrg but they took a hit on this one IMO.

Still, there's the uh let's say 0.0002% chance that this is the real deal, so what the heck. I think the posters here are onto them pretty good. Maybe all they're after is traffic and e-mail addresses.
*
OK, I just took another look at their challenge. I'm not sure, but it might be the case that all they are really doing is challenging the world to prove a negative. It's not so much that they are saying "we can create energy" but that they are saying "we want the world to assemble a team to prove that we *don't* create energy.

0.0002% chance
What an optimist!

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I don't get it. If it works, build one and demonstrate it. Why are they wringing their hands and moaning about "acceptance".

"Build it and they will come."

Also, call me commie if you want, but something so revolutionary and world-changing should be transferred to the "public domain". No one will EVER be able to enforce the patent(s) on a true, working "free energy" device.

I just found a photo of the Irish company's super secret generator prototype! I can see why it took a couple of Irishmen to come up with this!
Their claim seems semi-credible to me. Although I don't think it's perpetual motion even if it seems to be. They claim they stumbled on it by accident a few years ago. They make anti-counterfeiting equipment and don't seem to have anything to gain from the claim if it's false except for publicity that is, but their reputation will be destroyed if it is proved false.

hey when I was a kid I thought up this system where a magnet would be at the end of a stick free to rotate, and around the stick there will be magnets aligned with the N-S line tangent to the circle made by the motion of the stick. When you push the stick with a magnedt aligned say with the south pole towards the outside, it will first be attracted by an N pole of a magnet on the circumference, then as it moves past that it would be repulsed by the S pole, and so on as the stick rotates, and voila free energy

http://asteroid-invasion.blogspot.com

http://www.solvengineer.com/asteroid-invasion.html

I think it's a scam to get a large internet e-mail list which they will then sell to other internet scammers.

Did you sign up to get results of their challenge?
Bob DeWoody

id you sign up to get results of their challenge?
Yes, but I'll be able to tell if any future spam is as a result of doing so. IOW, gmail. I'm willing to deal with the spam in this case because it is easy and if I mark that source as spam, I will add my voice to the crowd and Google will theoretically 'punish' them.
