LOL

Yup, I can sympathize with that. I too have awakened to broken bedsprings, coarse hairs and a heavy fishy odor lingering in my bedroom from an overnight visitor I could have sworn was a beautiful woman the night before...
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Wow considering all the "facts" presented I'm surprised the Mayan calendar didn't end in 1917 instead of 2012. flugheim:
can anyone refute this???

Excerpt from link:
A man with a black top-hat and dark glasses nodded at me as I walked in. “Mr. Drake?â€

Me:
Ho hum, the usual MIB type. Maintaining secrecy as only a guy wearing a top hat this day and age can.

Excerpt from link:
He stared at me coldly for a few seconds,

Me:
Must have been Clint Eastwood...now on to more serious refutal.

Excerpt from link:
And how could there be no unicorn-goblins, as well?

Me:
The usual wordplay conspiracists use to create self doubt in someone who may be a fence sitter.

Excerpt from link:
“I mean, good god, I can see something up there in the sky! I’m not… I’m not hallucinating it!â€

Me:
More of the self doubt stuff...gotta have the person who is a supposed skeptic suddenly question himself dont we?

Excerpt from link:
“When I was a military scientist, I had access to thousands of top secret documents… stuff that would blow your mind.

Me:
The usual military is a mythological technological magician that builds anything just for the heck of it.

Excerpt from link:
he slid a manila envelope towards me “Don’t spill anything on themâ€

Me:
Whats a good conspiracy story without envelope sliding? And don't forget the old, yellow...worn angle. If you really want to laugh, look at the doc images linked there.

Excerpt from link:
Just an optical illusion, beamed from a satellite burrowed deep below the Nevada desert.

Me:
Now comes the serious stuff...and stuff you ought to be looking at. First off, a satellite is not normally something we call an object buried in the desert unless it has seriously seriously crashed! Now one can write this off to semantics...but I say credibility is in question now. This author who claims the moon is not really there does not even know what a satellite is...trust me, this

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. I still say it's a bad B movie Sci Fi script.

Probably from the early 50's.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Weren't the 50's sci-fi B-movies a little better shaped? They couldn't have done with the "before 17 everyone was crazy". I mean, even Edward Wood would have made something better

You're right.
I should have not dissed the 50's B movies so badly.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. cosmicdustbunnie - did he tell you if he ever got his bike back

I don't remember. For some reason, I think he eventually got his bike back. I'd probably have to confirm that though to be sure. Averygoodspirit was writing a book about his experiences but the old threads were lost in "The Great Crash" that afflicted SDC a couple of years ago.

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

I have come to the realization that no matter how borked an idea is, there are people out there who are dedicated and fanatical believers in it.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

hehe So true.

In this case, though, the author gives clues to the humorous intent of his "book". Either that, or he's so bad he's good.

You guys DO realize that this site was a joke, right?

Me:
I thought that at first but I looked for a punchline and didn't find one. And, some people do come up with pretty wild ideas and take them seriously. If it was a joke I guess the jokes on me.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. “Wait a goddamn minute!†I said angrily “1917?! What on earth are you people talking about?! People saw the moon before that! Ancient civilizations saw the moon in the sky! This—†I gestured at the envelope “Is bull&%$#@!!â€

“People before 1917 were crazy†he said with a shrug. “They were probably seeing things, all hopped up on opiates, or sick with diseases that sprung forth from the filth in which they lived. Degenerates who couldn’t be trusted, all of them wereâ€

“But-“

“Were you alive before 1917?†he asked calmly

“Well… no, butâ€

“Then there you have it†he said coldly, staring me down as he stirred his drink. “There you have it, indeedâ€

You guys scare me

Anyone who can be that quickly convinced by a top hatted guy who only has to say "There you have it" certainly makes me wonder, assuming this is not a joke.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. If it is a joke, what I'm afraid of is that you'll always find some people to take it seriously...

I mean, look at crop circles: a nice joke by two english granpas who transformed in one of the "biggest mysteries of the universe"

I didn't find any physical trace of the supposed "is there really a moon?" book , so I'll go for the joke. Gave me great ideas of books to pay my rent, though

On the other hand, he could be right. I mean, really, when you think about it, none of us were alive prior to 1917 so we really don't know for sure. The conspiracy may run deeper than the author realizes; since we were not there when they were written, we have no proof that all the books and songs referring to the Moon prior to that date haven't been systematically edited and changed by the government over the last 90 years, 1984 style.
