ISS doesn't have to wait for the solar joint repair before Kibo is completed?

Replying to:<BR/><DIV CLASS='Discussion_PostQuote'>When they first found out they couldn't move the problem joint in the solar panel, they said that Kibo might have to be delayed because ISS wouldn't be able to power it.&nbsp; Yet, most of Kibo is there and (mostly) installed.&nbsp; What gives? <br />Posted by willpittenger</DIV><br /><br />it is called refining your analysis.&nbsp; We were initially using general power consumption/generation numbers which are by definition conservative.&nbsp; The more accurate you want the more time you need to calculate it.&nbsp; It is NOT a trivial job.&nbsp; So one part is we got smarter on limits and could extend it.&nbsp; Only part of this is looking at the numbers, it is also looking at exactly what you plan to do over months time and what you need.&nbsp; In addition, we figured out different attitudes (which take a phenomonal amount of work/analysis to check if safe) that can get us over the high beta periods where we are limited because the SARJ is going to be operated essentially fixed.&nbsp; This might change again.&nbsp; After the&nbsp; recent survey, finding out that the mystery spot on Datum A is a divot (instead of a bump) is very bad structurally.&nbsp; We shall see.
