Jared Isaacman, Trump's pick for NASA chief, to get Senate confirmation hearing on April 9

NASA's Earth observation - climate and environment - has been one of the jewels in the crown of the space agency's achievements. It isn't clear that the incoming chief will fight for sustaining and expanding Earth observation with the same vigor as fighting for space exploration and supporting commercial space missions.

Commitment to space exploration - what we may gain - is all well and good but we ignore climate change - what we will lose - at our peril. Diminishing global capabilities for observing and measuring climate change does not diminish the climate problem, it potentially enables making it worse.
