Mars Express has such a cool camera. I love the 3D views it produces. Thanks for the links.

Josh

We need a first generation of pioneers.

How tall are those cliffs? I can't find scale information, and Google Mars is not detailed enough.

Hi Dragon04,

I was surprised to find it. That image never appeared on the Mars Express website, yet it
is really amazing.

It is not really news as is nearly a year old, but am happy to have bought it here.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. Nice one, Andrew. Thanks.

It really is hard to understand why that one didn't get published earlier.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. It sure it MeteorWayne.

Like yourself, I get a bit peeved when something like that very interesting release, takes
nearly a year.

I have emailed ESA this evening, to ask them about further Phobos imagery & also if
Mars Express has or is going to make any Deimos observations.

Alos I think in light of the recent revelation by the MRO CRISM that both appear to be
very similar to type D asteroids, may prompt ESA to further research on Phobos & Deimos.

If I get a reply & will post any new stuff on this thread.

Anyway I have cropped & enlarged this portion. Came out reasonably well I think.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. JonClarke:
While on the topic of Mars express images, here is another recent beauty.

Me:
Imagine what it would be like to be on that ice. That image is priceless!

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. I agree, that image is incredible.

I assume that it is H20 ice, not CO2 ice?

Quite like this one too. Chasma Boreale.

These of Phobos are pretty good too.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world.
