The best place to measure is the Martian southpole. It outgases from the soil in the summer. This will be the only time and place where an airborne volume can be measured with as enough matter to register specific (iron oxidized) toxins.

Perchlorates are the bad actors. They'll react with anything. Very active. Might have industrial use.
