A friend has loaned me the complete set of this late 50's program. Very interesting. Has anyone else seen it?

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

Obviously not!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Into_Space

Like said, it is interesting viewing. It is a documentary of the future, protraying the major events in the development of space exploration - the first deep space missions, the first moon missions, constructing a space station, testing new manouverable reetry vehicles.

With few exceptions the challenges at technical and physical, there are no space battles, aliens with death rays, or whatever. Instead the indomitable Col. McCauley battles system failures, human errors, hostile environments, and baulky machinery.

A fascinating insight into how people thought the future would be.

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

I watched it when it was new. I used to run around the neighborhood wearing my Col. McCauley space helmet, it had a tissue paper diaphragm that made it sound like I was talking through a kazoo, and carried a Men Into Space lunch box to school. When the Sci-Fi channel started, about 15 years ago, they ran the series late at night for a while.

I had no idea that it was on DVD. I think I'll get a copy, Men Into Space was better than Flash Gordon and I watch some of those once in a while.

Amazon.com is where I would start. I borrowed the ones I am watching from a friend.

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke
