meteorite?

I'm wondering what it was and if anyone saw a bright white light traveling across the sky on the south side of phoenix,AZ. It seem to be just about perfectly east to west at 10:00 pm. Tuesday, July 21, 2009. This traveled at least half of the entire sky and was 3-4 times the size of the brightest star in the sky. Anyone else see it?

Just to clarify, if it's seen in the sky, it's a meteor.

A meteorite is a piece that makes it to the ground.

While it is in space (before we can see it in the sky as a meteor) it's called a meteoroid.

I'll check on Fireball (very bright meteor) reports, but it typically takes a few days for the list to be updated.
