Hello,Everyone.
I was writing a peace on first evidence of water on mars.
Ran into a rock with my own name CLOVIS,sprint found it.
Refered to as clovis outcrop or just clovis .
What i wanted to know was how, and why this rock got it name.
No one seem to know . YOURS TRULY

I don't have any confirmation of this but,

It may be that because "Clovis" is an extremely altered rock formation (by water/etc) that they naturally picked up the name "Clovis."

The name Clovis is commonly associated with projectile points made by the Clovis culture 14,000 years ago. These are rocks that have been altered from their original condition to a newer state. So, maybe that's why they decided to call the rock formation "Clovis?"

That was very interesting,though i would still like to know who thought up the names and the reson behind the names, if anyone knows please respond.
also thanks for the links, the one on the clovis points was great.
