On Dec. 30, 2023, NASA's Juno spacecraft came closer to the volcanic moon Io than any other mission has in 20 years. In the process, Juno was able to grab some incredible images.

The findings get more exciting and fascinating all the time with subsequent missions. I remember when the Voyager 2 spacecraft first discovered volcanic activity occurring on Io right as it was happening. Io looked like a giant pizza in space. I read an article detailing all of these discoveries in a National Geographic in 1979 and there was a picture of a lady NASA scientist smiling and pointing to an image of an eruption on Io on her Apple computer. Of course beings that she is smart (she has to be for a job like this) and the fact that I had just turned 13 years of age, I wanted to marry her.
