I'm finding myself with a surprising amount of down time and wondered if anyone had recommendations for scifi horror movies? Doesn't have to be an actual good movie or even to do strictly with space. Go as far as Sharknado or something to do with Chupacabra, all suggestions welcome!

My roommate is a fan of the film Europa Report, so you may want to give that one a try. I'm a big fan of the film Sunshine, if you haven't seen that one already. Neither film are specifically "horror" but are at least tangentially related to the genre.

These are some of my favorites:

Forbidden Planet – Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Robby

Silent Running – Bruce Dern, Cliff Potts, Huey, Dewey, and Louie

Millennium – 1989 - Kris Kristofferson, Cheryl Ladd, Daniel J. Travanti

The Abyss – Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio

Logan’s Run - Michael York, Jenny Agutter, , Farrah Fawcett, and Peter Ustinov.

Dune – 1984 - Kyle MacLachlan, Francesca Annis, Linda Hunt, José Ferrer, Patrick Stewart, Dean Stockwell, Max von Sydow, Sting

Ender’ Game - Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld

Avatar - Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver

The Postman – Kevin Costner, Will Patton, Larenz Tate

Divergent – Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet

Ascension – TV Mini Series - Ana Mulvoy Ten, Christie Burke, Farrah Mackenzie

2001 A Space Odyssey - Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester

2010 The Year We Make Contact - Roy Scheider, John Lithgow, Helen Mirren

Elysium - Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley

The Road - Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Kodi Smit-McPhee

The Black Hole – 1979 - Maximilian Schell, Anthony Perkins, Yvette Mimieux, Ernest Borgnine

Nightfall – 1988 - David Birney, Sarah Douglas, Alexis Kanner

Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind - Richard Dreyfuss, François Truffaut, Teri Garr

Cocoon - Don Ameche, Wilford Brimley, Hume Cronyn, Brian Dennehy

Cocoon: The Return - Don Ameche, Wilford Brimley, Courteney Cox

Clovis,
I just, remember a older, movie not the worst or
Best? Galaxy of Terror has A few well known actors
Erin Moran of (Happy Days). you can find it on imbd.
Maybe on DVD ? Also the original movie Rollerball,
with James Caan. Animated would be of course
Heavy Metal (orig)

I remember watching that but I don't have it in my collection. A really cute animated SciFi movie is Wall-E. That Eve was really fast and deadly with those blasters she had. I usually don't care for animated but that's an exception.

Alien series; War of the Worlds; World War Z; The Hive too many to list.

Movies being shortened versions of any authors presentation ... read the books they are based on which is more likely to entertain you for a longer period of time not to mention let absorb the material at your own pace.
