As noted in the article, a large bolide hit over the same region (El Paso, TX) back in 1997 as well. I was actually there when it happened - there was a very loud boom, sounded like someone had exploded a bomb a few blocks away. Anyway, I think the point is, as qso1 mentioned, that this sort of thing happens all the time - nothing to be frightened about really. I guess if you take those two observations and were very brash you might conclude that any given spot on the planet will have such a thing hit nearby at a frequency of once every decade or so. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>
