It may be a more normal occurance than most realize. Many an unseen meteor reenters over the vast expanses of oceans.

If it is a sign of things to come, we may be headed into a collection of previously unknown meteorites or whatever they are called before they enter the atmosphere.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. As noted in the article, a large bolide hit over the same region (El Paso, TX) back in 1997 as well. I was actually there when it happened - there was a very loud boom, sounded like someone had exploded a bomb a few blocks away. Anyway, I think the point is, as qso1 mentioned, that this sort of thing happens all the time - nothing to be frightened about really. I guess if you take those two observations and were very brash you might conclude that any given spot on the planet will have such a thing hit nearby at a frequency of once every decade or so.

You got that right. What scares me is 3BD .00010 MIN. miss distance. They can't norrow it down more than 5.5 million miles with a 3 sigma after 159 observations?
