Looks to be just you PHD. I added a test comment (which I deleted) successfully.

It could be disturbing, but some of the quotes are obviously edited to be so. For instance the interview with Mrs. Obama about "Black america will wake up". She's merely stating a confidence that the demographic will end up supporting Sen. Obama, nothing so rabble rousing as it sounds.

As for a lot of the other quotes, taken from his book. We don't really know the context just from this video. He could be talking about views he held, or his peers held, in his youth. A lot of them are actually phrased as things told to him by a friend (usually Ray). Anybody here read the book that's able and willing to enlighten us on the actual context of the quotes?

Yeah, a lot of them are things he attributes as other people saying. They could easily be a set up for a rebuttal on his part.

Here's another example, at ~2:10 in the video:
Replying to:

And yet, even as I imagined following Malcom's call, one line in the book stayed with me. He spoke of a wish he'd once had, the wish that the white blood that ran through him, there by act of violence, might somehow be expunged

Sounds pretty bad at first read but at a slightly closer look there's a bit of a clue to some other context. The phrases "and yet" along with "stayed with me" actually indicate doubt and second thoughts. He could very well be saying that he was motivated to follow Malcom, to fight for black rights in the same way, except that this wish of malcoms gave him pause. As if this ISN'T what Obama wanted.

Without the rest of the context for these quotes we really can't know.

I also love the quotes from Rev. Wight (~8:30)...which aren't by Obama at all. Granted, the video tries to make the case that Obama is lying about his ignorance of the views stated by the Rev. They cut from a clip of him denying his knowledge or presence in the congregation when the claims were made, to one of the Rev saying "there is a man here" referring to Obama. Of course, the clip of the Rev. is obviously from a different sermon than the ones in which the video shows him making his absurd claims, so it doesn't really prove anything.

Now, I'm not saying that Obama is telling the whole truth, just that the video makes a pretty poor case against Obama's claim. They showed a clip that seems to indicate that Obama attended at least one of the services...but not necessarily a service where the Rev. is a nutter.

--------------------SaiphMOD@gmail.com -------------------

"This is my Timey Wimey Detector.
