Looks to be just you PHD. I added a test comment (which I deleted) successfully.

It could be disturbing, but some of the quotes are obviously edited to be so. For instance the interview with Mrs. Obama about "Black america will wake up". She's merely stating a confidence that the demographic will end up supporting Sen. Obama, nothing so rabble rousing as it sounds.

As for a lot of the other quotes, taken from his book. We don't really know the context just from this video. He could be talking about views he held, or his peers held, in his youth. A lot of them are actually phrased as things told to him by a friend (usually Ray). Anybody here read the book that's able and willing to enlighten us on the actual context of the quotes?

Yeah, a lot of them are things he attributes as other people saying. They could easily be a set up for a rebuttal on his part.

Here's another example, at ~2:10 in the video:
Replying to:

And yet, even as I imagined following Malcom's call, one line in the book stayed with me. He spoke of a wish he'd once had, the wish that the white blood that ran through him, there by act of violence, might somehow be expunged

Sounds pretty bad at first read but at a slightly closer look there's a bit of a clue to some other context. The phrases "and yet" along with "stayed with me" actually indicate doubt and second thoughts. He could very well be saying that he was motivated to follow Malcom, to fight for black rights in the same way, except that this wish of malcoms gave him pause. As if this ISN'T what Obama wanted.

Without the rest of the context for these quotes we really can't know.

I also love the quotes from Rev. Wight (~8:30)...which aren't by Obama at all. Granted, the video tries to make the case that Obama is lying about his ignorance of the views stated by the Rev. They cut from a clip of him denying his knowledge or presence in the congregation when the claims were made, to one of the Rev saying "there is a man here" referring to Obama. Of course, the clip of the Rev. is obviously from a different sermon than the ones in which the video shows him making his absurd claims, so it doesn't really prove anything.

Now, I'm not saying that Obama is telling the whole truth, just that the video makes a pretty poor case against Obama's claim. They showed a clip that seems to indicate that Obama attended at least one of the services...but not necessarily a service where the Rev. is a nutter.

--------------------SaiphMOD@gmail.com -------------------

"This is my Timey Wimey Detector. Goes "bing" when there's stuff. It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually. I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Obama said he attended some 500 services at Wright's church, so I'm thinking that he had to know that Wright was into the crazy Liberation Theology. Either that, or he was a sound sleeper.

LSD, 100 micrograms I.M.

I dunno. I didn't find anything particularly offensive or shocking. I can sse though how someone might have a strong reaction should they take some of the content in the wrong context.

Now... There was something I didn't understand. Whoever complired this video obviously intended the viewer to take what was said in a very narrow context, but more importantly, they want the viewer to believe that everything written and said are Barack Obama's words and also originate from him.

This is clearly not the case. He is obviously quoting someone else in several of those passages. I assume that person to be his father considering the title of he book? Unless I'm mistaken, the creator of the video is attempting to mislead the viewer a la Michael Moore.

Taken in proper context, I certainly could understand the anger of a black African living in Africa during the years of Apartheid and the general attitude between blacks and whites in those days.

"2012.. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)

(CNSNews.com) – President-elect Barack Obama said in 2004 – while he was a state legislator running for a U.S. Senate seat – that he attended services at Trinity United Church of Christ every week.

This is in contrast to what Obama, as a presidential candidate, said this year after controversial anti-American remarks by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright surfaced. Obama then told news outlets that he did not attend the church frequently and was not aware of Wright’s comments.

The comments from Obama about his church attendance appeared in the transcript of an interview posted Tuesday on the religious news Web site Beliefnet.com. The interview was conducted on March 27, 2004 by Chicago Sun-Times religion writer Cathleen Falsani for a story on Obama’s faith, but the interview was not released in its entirety until now.

“One of the churches that I became involved in was Trinity United Church of Christ,” Obama said in the interview. “And the pastor there, Jeremiah Wright, became a good friend. So I joined that church and committed myself to Christ in that church.”

Obama began attending the church in 1988 and formally joined Trinity in 1992. Falsani asked, “Do you still attend Trinity?”

Obama answered, “Yep. Every week. 11 o’clock service. Ever been there? Good service.
I actually wrote a book called ‘Dreams from My Father,’ it’s kind of a meditation on race. There's a whole chapter on the church in that, and my first visits to Trinity.”

That is in direct contradiction to what he has said throughout this campaign year."

Link: http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=39273

.

.

.

Obama lied. That's something he is vey good at..... No, that's not correct. He is not so great at lying. But he is very good at getting away with it. And that's really a reflection on those who belive him more than a reflection on him.

The only way to know what is possible is to attempt the impossible.
