Sometime ago a friend told me about a planet called Planet X thats circles the Sun and its "companion" - he believes that our Sun has a dark star wich makes our solar system a double-star system.
He mentioned the a Russian space probe Norlok (wich I never knew) and the SoHo, two spacecrafts that photographed the red, gigant, planet X.
Anyone aware of that?

Xena is neither red, nor gigantic though... Well, I guess it depends on how you subjectively define red and gigantic, if it is either of those, then the Earth is very red and humongous. Sedna is quite red, but, since it's smaller than Xena, it certainly wouldn't be gigantic. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure that SOHO has not participated in observing either of those objects, particularly since both of those objects are way off the ecliptic. I would guess that any claims at present of the discovery of a very red and gigantic planet in our solar system are not for real.

SOHO has most definitely not imaged a gigantic brown dwarf companion to the Sun. I have never heard of this "Norlok" probe -- I am inclined to doubt its very existence. This sounds like one of the many claims made by Nancy Leiderer (sp?); she kept claiming that another probe had imaged Planet X, which she claimed was on a collision course with Earth. On one occasion, she provided a Cassini (IIRC) image of Io against the backdrop of Jupiter, claiming it to be a Hubble image of Planet X which NASA had suppressed.

I believe your friend has been suckered by a hoax.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

A beautifully encapsulated explanation, once again.

I wish I could remember
But my selective memory
Won't let me - Mark Oliver Everett

Not to worry, people hear about these stories fairly often and pop onto SDC to find out more. And SDC is just the place. People like Eddie are excellent at explaining the background to these theories as well as pointing out where they go wrong.

I wish I could remember
But my selective memory
Won't let me - Mark Oliver Everett

I agree don't be sorry. But for your question, crazyeddie would not have posted his very well-reasoned researched post. I must say, however, that given the title of your post, I almost skipped as just another lame thread from the woo-woo crowd. I'm glad I didn't, I definitely learned something today.

I re-second the motion... Don't apologize. Be thankful there are intelligent people here that will give you the straight facts or guide you in the right direction to your own discoveries. At the very least there will be an honest debate (in most cases)... sometimes opinions can be very entrenched.

"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson

Sly Stallone and Bruce Willis have a new Planet in development, hehee

Just think -- for the $$ it would take for those two guys to make a movie, we could send another New Horizons probe out there and make sure there's not a 'Nemesis' [Asimov wrote a cool sci-fi novel by that name] on a path to Earth's destruction.

I'm a recovering optimist - things could be better.
