So, the atmospheric gases are going into.... hibernation?

Is there a term for that?

Not likely thick enough for nitrogen rain . . .but, snow? Or, likely, frost.
This is seasonal thermal inertia, that which makes September and October warmer than February and March. It would be neat to send another New Horizons when Pluto is near apoapsis.
