according to this astronautix.com

www.astronautix.com/lvs/polrisa3.htm

Polaris had a warhead weight of 760kg

www.astronautix.com/lvs/poseidon.htm

Poseiden had a warhead weight of 1,600kg

www.astronautix.com/lvs/trientc4.htm

Trident 1 a warhead weight of 1,300kg

http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/trientd5.htm

and Trident 2 a warhead weight 1,650kg

How those weights would translate into a LEO launcher especially as you could get a perfect equitorial lauch (as long as you warned people as they tend to get nervous and reach for the button if they pick up an unannounced BM launch).

The SS-18 "Satan" had a payload of approximately 7,000kg as a ICBM, as a space launcher with an upper stage it has a capacity to LEO of about 1,800kg. I'm guessing that a conversion of a Poseidon/Trident would give similar numbers.

I beg to differ, the SS-18 which is sold as Dnepr for commercial launches has a much higher performance. It does not have an additional upperstage, it uses the same hardware, just a different programmed flight

And its highest performance to a 300KM LEO orbit on an inclination of 50.5 degrees is about 3.700kg.

thats what I thought, because of the upperstage. The 7000kg payload you quoted for nuclear warheads, was that as well for the SS-19 (Rockot)??

Looking in EA, the SS-19 payload as an ICBM was about 4,300kg.
