WOOHOO! I've been waiting for this one.

Actually, what I"m really waiting for is the third one: "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". That was always my favorite of the series. My copy is falling to bits from all the times I read it as a child.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

I liked "Dawn Treader", too. My favorite, though , might be "The Silver Chair" because of Puddleglum.

Just curious, did you ever read his "Ransom" trilogy?

Me too!.

I must have read that a dozen times or more. I just LIKE it, I can't explain why really.

I like the image of Eustace flies down to the beach and they are prepared to fight him but REALLY just want to leave him there and escpe the big dragon, but they see him cry, and come to his aid.

I like the idea of people , seeing a dragon cry, would muster the courage to come to its aid. I don't believe many (any?, I mean, crocs cry too you know, and for a nasty sneaky reasn! ) humans would DO it, but hey, I don't LIKE the real world, it sucks big time, I will have the heroic (un)reality thank you kindly!.

And the world doesn't contain Reepicheep but that's ok, because he exists anyway, and damn me, I just shed a tear. *shakes fist at useless uncaring universe* I want my noble brave talking mouse companion, dammit!.

(edit, hahaha, i couldn't see to type properly, full of spelling mistakes, what a sook you know, CalliAcale)

Yeah, Reepicheep is cool. I liked the part where he was chasing after Eustace for swinging him by the tail.

Reepicheep is awesome. In the BBC miniseries adaptation (quite good, though of course the FX aren't anywhere near this level) he's played superbly by Warwick Davis.

Regarding "The Silver Chair", I didn't care too much for that one when I was little, but as I matured I started to really appreciate it. Puddleglum is indeed a delight -- in much the same way as Marvin the Paranoid Android, except that inside his dour exterior, he really is a jolly fellow. The BBC adaptation (which concluded with "Silver Chair") brilliantly cast Tom Baker in the role. Once you stop thinking Dr Who whenever you hear his voice, he's really perfect. Almost never cracks even the slightest glimmer of a smile, but is instead almost constantly pouting, slumping his shoulders and just looking utterly pathetic. Perfect for Puddleglum, the perennial pessimist (who was actually quite an optimistic fellow by Marsh-Wiggle standards).

If they do carry on through the entire series, I find myself wondering if they'll have the courage to do "The Horse and His Boy" and "The Last Battle" without alteration. Those two books borrow a lot of imagery from the tension between Christians and Muslims.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
