Private space launches then and now

Cable TCM is broadcasting old sci-fi movies and one struck chord with the backing of private launch companies today.<br /><br />Destination Moon 1950.<br /><br />Main charactors are from a satelite launch company that after a mishap with a satelite decide to go all out and redeem themselves with manned launch to the moon(using an atomic engine of course). <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /><br /><br />Many parallels with current themes.<br /><br />'conspiracy to stop them' ect.<br /><br />There is even a line "the government always turns to the private sector when its in a jam" lol<br /><br />Somehow the picture was both ammusing and familiar.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>I'm not a rocket scientist, but I do play one on the TV in my mind.</p> </div>
