Quite interesting. There was a made-for-television adaptation, IIRC, a few years ago that left me rather underwhelmed.

*runs off to IMDb*

Peter Gallagher, who went from romping around a Greek island with Daryl Hannah in 1982's Summer Lovers to cheating his way through 1989's Sex, Lies and Videotape to sleeping his way through being the obsession of Sandra Bullock in 1995's While You Were Sleeping (talk about your easy paychecks) to playing the father in the hit teen series The O.C. was a complete miscast in the 1998 abortion as the lead, Bernard. Leonard Nimoy was the only person who made it semi watchable, and that's just because he's Leonard Nimoy. The story line went so far away from Huxley that I was wondering what I was watching.

I really hope Scott does better and does Huxley justice.

But the first time it's been done as a theatrical movie - the previous adaptations being to TV.

Appian Way (DiCaprio's company) has made some great flicks, and Ridley Scott is...well...Ridley freakin' Scott, so this one deserves a serious look.

Oh yes, Ridley Scott is Ridley freakin' Scott, just as you say. But for the last few years his baby has been the TV show Numb3rs, which has been gradually devolving from an interesting concept into just another lame cop show.

"Characters who figure in are Bernard, a lower-caste member, and Lenina, the woman with whom he is infatuated. DiCaprio would likely play Bernard, who is persecuted when the leaders of the society find his behavior antisocial."

Nothing that a little soma couldn't cure......
