I wouldn't say "of course", but in this case, yes

But the Krell forgot one thing John. That wasn't clear from the news conference Thursday.
They mentioned a computer for the ISS Truss, and a computer which collects data from the wing leading edge sensors on the orbiter.
Basically data collectors for sensors.
Of course all involved on this flight have been re and re inspected and repaired as required.
That is all they mentioned, but I don't recall if they excluded any other equipment, so I'll have to defer any comment beyond that.

BTW, they did not mention the subcontractor by name as the investigation is ongoing, and they felt such info might compromise said investigation.

Wayne

But the Krell forgot one thing John. "then we can be certain that NASA techs, engineers, and other workers do the same. Maybe that has something to do with why Shuttles aren't often launched on time"

The two are unrelated.

[gratuitous personal attack deleted]

I'm not surprised that Mir crewmembers drank vodka, and I thought that was always well known. I don't see an issue with it as long as they're not getting too drunk to function and deal with contingencies that could occur at any time. However, I am surprised to read that they smoked cigarettes aboard the station. First, that just seems downright dangerous. Secondly, I'd have thought that the physical fitness requirements for being a cosmonaut would be such that you wouldn't find smokers in the occupation.

Is that Yuri on the left? He looks pretty cool.

I don't think I'd trust a pilot who didn't smoke or drink.

http://www.space.com/news/070808_nasa_drunkastro_update.html

I hope this update turns out to be the total truth. If so, I would retract every criticism I have made so far. It is beyond ridiculous if astronauts are drunk for flights. It is also beyond ridiculous to make such claims without proof. Let's see how it all washes out.

SLJ

so did the astronauts make it there alive and do there job for the whole of humanity?

i guess they should be allowed to load up on Pepsi(c) and McDonalds McBreakfast Bisquits(c) before they go up? just so they can risk there lives and make it through the flight awake and do there job. or maybe not?
i dont know
starts to take on religious contexts /><
