Looking for high-quality pre-assembled spacecraft models, the kind you find on Pentagon general's or NASA administrator's desk. Can forum members please recommend websites, makers, costs; their own experiences in finding. Thanks.

Your best bet is probably to contact spacecraft makers, or visit their company stores. I know launch vehicle and airplane makers have the same available for sale.

I really like the model LM I picked up at the KSC shop in Orlando International Airport:

This model could be yours for a mere $5000!

http://www.spacemodel.com/pic584.html

Wow...that's a lot of money!

That is an impressive vehicle, though! It's a shame that the Russian shuttle program fell apart. Imagine where ISS would be today if we had Buran available to pick up the slack when the U.S. shuttles were unavailable!

I've actually got a model of the "VentureStar" sitting on top of the entertainment system in my living room. I think I ordered it from that site, iirc. I imagine that someday I'll be watching NASA launch its "CEV" capsule on the antiquated SRB "stick", while that model reminds me of what might have been...

Nick Proach has always charged a ton for his work. More than I think is worth it. I'd rather build it myself.

The LM model above and others like it are from Code3 models...code3.com. They are on sale now (and a lot at that!).

-Ben

It's pretty good quality.

From the ProjectApollo mailing list, it looks like you should be wary of Dana Gerath or "Gerath Designs":

Folks,

I am looking for any person who has purchased a model or other product from
Dana Gerath aka Gerath Designs in the past two years and not received the
product after payment.

Dana has failed to return the complete amount of money to me after I paid him
for a Saturn V model in February of 2004. Are there any other like stories
out there and would you like to join my collection action against Geraths Design.

I am in contact with four collectors who purchased models, plaques or panel
from Dana in 2004 or early 2005, who paid, but have not received their goods.
Any other collectors who have had such experiences, please contact me at

.

I will advise you of our options.

Thank you.

Larry McGlynn
