Sci-fi owes a lot to classic Star Trek, but some of it aged quite poorly, and the new shows only served to highlight that to us.

That's funny.
Those two shows and Picard have ruined almost all of Star Trek for me. Ignoring Canon, ignoring Gene's vision of a better future and breaking everything that was 'Trek.

Picking on a show because it was a product of it's time is disingenuous at best.
