Which Star Trek ship was the first fully digital special effects ship? Voyager? Defiant? Enterprise-E? I have to assume that all ships in the ENT series were fully digital.
What are the depressions in the forward dorsal area of the Intrepid-class primary hull? (There are two such depressions.) They can't be the docking system. I saw that in a close up in the VOY series.
The Defiant-class was never shown with the docking system that I know of. Why not? Where would it be? Some of the recent books have the bow occupied by a "warhead module". So the docking port can't be there.
It is my impression that unlike the Galaxy-class, members of the Intrepid and Defiant classes as well as NX-01 had more on Deck 1 (Deck A on the NX-01) than just the bridge, conference room, and captain's ready room. All appear to have corridors connecting the bridge with the rest of ship rather than only turbolifts and ramps. (I understand the NCC-1701D had a ramp connecting Decks 1 & 2 behind the aft port bridge turbolift.) Is this correct?

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}

Wow dude, never even thought of half of those questions. But...
I think there were model's of all the Star Trek ships that were used in the movies and shows. But the ships in ENT did look digital.

2 No clue

3 Defiant was docked to DS9 so it had to have docking ports.

4 No clue, but most schematics that I've seen only show the bridge, ready room, conference rooms and turbolifts on Deck 1 or A...
Don't let your sig line incite a gay thread ;>)

In reply to:

4 No clue, but most schematics that I've seen only show the bridge, ready room, conference rooms and turbolifts on Deck 1 or A...

In ENT, Archer's ready room appeared to be on the other side of a hallway from the bridge. In VOY, I think the ready room had an exit outside the bridge. In DS9, I know of at least one episode (can't remember which) where some senior crew were going through hallways that twisted and turned and then emerged onto the bridge.

Please notice that all three classes are relatively flattened designs. This is especially true of the Defiant and, to a lesser extent, the Defiant.

On a related note, I think Sisko's DS9 office had exits on either side of his desk. I don't know where those went. However, I think there were scenes where they were used to enter or leave unnoticed.

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}

In 'Star Trek: Generations' they started computer-enhancing the ships, especially Enterprise-B. In 'First Contact' they started using completely CGI ships for the first time, most notably in the battle with the Borg.

Also, when Foundation Imaging took over many of the FX during Voyager's 3rd season and DS-9's 4th, many of the ships became CGI.

That Trek-geeky enough for you, LSBD? Besides: this IS the 'Science Fiction' forum, if I'm not mistaken. Where else would these things be discussed? If you don't like it, don't read it.

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

I forgot my own emoticon. Besides, it's been my experience that some posters use an emoticon and 'just kidding' claims to mask subtle bullying.

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

I have a "Will" type question about ST Academy, and not about the ship.
How many gardeners named "Boothby" or whatever his name, are there? I seem to remember one from just about every version of ST there is. This leads me to think that he may be an andriod, but we all know only Data was that.

I was just watching a nxgen show about the character "Will", (are you sure, Will,[our Will, not the character], that you are not a future being come to spy on us mere mortal and find out what we actually know of the future?), on trial for hotdogging with some other recuits and got one of his team mates killed. And Picard was seeking advice from the gardener. Then I remembered several of the past books had some of the past ST people doing the same!

What gives?

Besides, it's been my experience that some posters use an emoticon and 'just kidding' claims to mask subtle bullying

Well, unlike some posters here, I have the integrity to be open and honest about my bullying. I don't hide behind emoticons and snide comments. So when you see a J/K, , or at the end of one of my posts you can be assured that my comment was meant in jest.

You'd be one of the few. Thanks for clarifying.

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

Actually, from what I understand, there is only one Boothby. He just lives on. Might be an Organian or your average friendly Q or who knows.

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}

Supposedly Boothby is just a human. I guess being a groundskeeper is good for your longevity.

-----------------------------------------------------

Ask not what your Forum Software can do do on you,

Ask it to, please for the love of all that's Holy, STOP !

Where would you get lift? Putting the engines in the Warp nacelles would put the craft down. Also, where would you put control surfaces?

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}

The top opening is a sensor array. The bottom one is the "secondary deflector array". The later might have been added to Voyager for use in the Badlands, but all Intrepids appear to have it.

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}
