I live in the Houston, Texas area and the past three mornings about 7:00 am, I have seen a strange light that looks light a comet with a very short tail in the eastern morning sky.

Have any one else seen this or know what it could be?

There are no comets visible by eye at this time. Can you tell what constellation it is in? (Never mind, the sky is far too bright to ID any constellations)

At 7 AM in Housten, the sun is minutes away from rising (7:06 AM), so my best guess would be an aircraft on the way into or out of one of the local airports. If you see it at the same time, it could be the same flight each morning at that time.

Mercury is 15 degrees above the horizon, but even at mag +0.2, would be overwhelmed by the sky brightness just above the sun. And of course, it wouldn't have a tail, wheras jets often do.

How wide and long is this tail?
Is it a dot with a tail? Or a broad glow?

Can measure size with arm outstretched: how many hand widths wide or how many thumb-widths wide ?

Does it move? Same place each morning?
Color?
