I'm glad that note didn't include the comment "And if you break it, you pay for it" <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" /><br /><br />Shouldn't be a big job? (Don't have a clue if it is or not!) <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" />

On an only slightly related note. Do you know (or know where I can find) the GPS coords of LC-39B (trying to find out the distance to the pad from a viewing location).<br /><br />Thanks<br />-eric <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

"Is that called "Pad Rash" ?"<br /><br />More like Hanger Rash, which in aviation is when planes and equipment (or other planes) 'meet' in the hanger. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

I called it pad rash as it was recorded by the pad leader. I have not dealt with hanger rash in near 20 years. Thank god. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

"Sorry I do not have that info.....of course you could be a A guy from Iraq inserting data into a missile...so if I knew I could not say. "<br /><br />Yeah..... Not that that is valid logic (altho some people will think it is). If i was really determined, I could get it off a map/satilite image, or just have my wife survey it out from public locations around the cape (aka, in reality, its hard to keep info 'secret'). <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /><br /><br />I was just hoping. I think ive seen them before, I just cant find them right now. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

Actually I finally found it in an Apollo 10 mission description. They give a vehicle location a T+000:00:00.58 (AKA, before tower clear)<br /><br />-Eric <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

"Which location..."<br /><br />What do you mean? They show the lat. and long. of the vehicle on 39B right at liftoff (aka, I have already found it).<br /><br />-Eric <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

emerrill-<br /><br />Which veiwing site are you going to? I might head north, on the way to Playalinda. I don't think they block off the road just past the bridge anymore, but the 405 causeway might be a good spot, too, and I don't think they block that off anymore, either. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

No, I mean what location do you want the distance to :) <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>-Ben</p> </div>

You will not be able to get past the 406 drawbridge. The refuge/Playalinda is closed during the countdown and through liftoff.<br /><br />However, that bridge and the nearby Space Walk of Fame (spaceview park) are nice places to watch. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>-Ben</p> </div>

For the previous count I was at Kennedy Point Park (in titusville). From what I had at the time, it looks like it was ~10m, but I just wanted a better number., Now I need to go home and enter the pad location into the GPS.<br /><br />Q: On the NASA causeway (the LT ticket location), do you have a view of the orbiter? I know from Titusville, the RSS blocks it when it is rolled back.<br /><br />-Eric<br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

You were close to me before I was told to move it! I was just a short distance away at the Walgreens to your north. I was told to move the car because they would tow it if I didn't. There were other folks there charging between $5 and $25 to park. Ended up going to the Wendy's about three miles up the road to set up the camera equipment. Best part: free and there were bathrooms!

I am trying to get the day free to watch the launch. I will let you know if I do. My supervisor already asked me if I was planning on going. Since finals will be over and grades turned in, I am sure she would not mind. I will PM you when I get more info. <br /><br />Site: I was thinking Spaceview park to set up if I can fing a good place there.

My current plan it to return there, unless I come up with a better spot (Looking over google satellite maps), or I spring for LT tickets on ebay. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

Titusville is 11.5-11.8 miles from pad B (11.5 up north by the 406 and Space View).<br /><br />Yes, you can see the full orbiter from the causeway. You are looking dead on from 'above.' Causeway is just over 7 miles from pad B. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>-Ben</p> </div>

Do the ppl here think that the LT tickets are worth it, or is titusville about as good (I would image you get a better downrange view from titusville?)?<br /><br />Ok. A little more back on topic.<br /><br />SG, what is the feeling around you about the odds off getting of this tuesday (excluding weather). I would image that managment thinks there is a decent chance if they are willing to go strait for a launch attempt, and they were putting an 'causiously optimistic' face on things at the press conf (or thats the feeling I got at least). But what is the feelings among the engineers, do they think they have this troublshot enough that they should be able to go?<br /><br />Thanks<br />-eric <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

I'm just asking about the manufacturing lot of these<br />sensors from both tanks.<br /><br />Documentation would give this answer.<br /><br />All could possibly be from the same BATCH.<br /><br />-steve-<br />

They are worth it, though $50 that they originally sold them for for this flight is ridiculous.<br /><br />You're only hope now is ebay, and they are really scalping (I've seen them go for 300 for a pair or four). <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>-Ben</p> </div>

I liked it better when you could write in and ask for a car pass for free. We took our large telescopes to the Causeway to photograph the launches. I miss that site because of some of the great shots we took from there.

I know, I really wish they would relax that rule. I think it is more of a "deal" with Delaware North than it is security. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p>-Ben</p> </div>
