Let me see, Copernicus, Tycho Brahe, Galileo telescope observations of the tiny lights moving around Jupiter, later Kepler, followed by Isaac Newton. 1620-1621 is well into the telescope observation times and heliocentric solar system model. Did Galileo say he could see the tiny lights moving around Jupiter because they were connected to a solid dome?

The dome concept is popular in flat earth teachings today. Here is a 14 page arXiv paper that could help detailing the astronomical investigations into the distance between Earth and the Sun, i.e. the astronomical unit.
