So just to confirm - it's your contention that everyone always has access to the Internet, always, regardless of what the environment they're working in is?

.

bipartisan (bī-pär'tĭ-zən, -sən) [Adj.] Maintaining the ability to blame republications when your stimulus plan proves to be a devastating failure.

IMPEACH OBAMA!

No, not at all. What I said is what I said. There was no internet around in the 1970s when the proposal to implement the metric system fizzled.

Internet/Computer based conversion programs are nice to have, but not necessities.

A: standard measurements are use by all aviation aside from airbus, as I already mentioned. Converting all the sizes, torques, thrusts, velocities, capacities, volumes, areas, etc etc etc would just be stupidly cost inefficient.

B: they used cm's on the EVA because it's simple to convert 4 inches (an example) to cm's (10).

C: America drives on the right side of the road, therefore, the standard american system is better. (rib)

D: when measuring temperature, 100 degrees sounds a whole lot hotter than 28. on the other hand, 32 doesnt sound quite as bad as 0.

E: It's a lot easier to use standard in cooking. It's practical; half cup, quarter teaspoon, etc. not "three cc's..."

I think I'll stick with the American way. And no, I will never learn another language either, aside from maybe Gaelic.

Let's take the metric discussion to a separate thread, and leave the moon alone.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I'm with MW, this was my Moon thread and has become a conversion spin-off, which should have it's own thread. But, hey... you guys play where you want to!

Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nope, no more moon-related questions... it would just add more pages anyway. I've come to realize that questions are best left to the classroom 'cus the internet attaracts the ranters. Thanks for the thought.

Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. A. I've asked that the thread be split and the metric discussion be taken to Technology.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Went ballistic?....Come on Wayne, I made a simple statement disagreeing with a comment you made. Then Adrenalynn got in my face with a serious attitude and made a $1000 dollar bet. I just didn't lay down for it.

On a serious note, I'd like to see something put on the moon that people can truly identify with even a decent telescope that proves we (humans) were there. I know it's a weight or mass penalty to take anything like a huge flag up, but there are a surprising number of people who think we never landed there. This time around, I'd live to rub their noses in it.

My father in law doesnt think we went. He's 73, still fairly sound-minded (aside from 100% PTSD) Korea and Vietnam vet, His mindset is, among other reasons, "we couldn't even see a good TV picture (station reception)from Earth, there's no way we could have goten reception like that from the moon."
