Hello vanDivX

Every country one way or another, one time or another, contributed with its emigrant work force for the development of a different country.

The reasons for this are as far diverse as from purely personal reasons to running away from genocide.

The greatest freedom of all is when people can cross borders without fear.

As you said, "mostly they looked for freedom here" and I agree 100% with you specially in the past tense form you used.

USA used to be a country where people looked for freedom as Einstein did but at this precise moment it is no longer the case.

It is up to you and those who can think by themself without fear that America can come back to the Spirit of 76.

I simply said that there was something physically unusual with it. I have never said that his brain was unique in any way.

I also read in a science magazine (can't remember which or where), that they recently had discovered that his brain consumed much more energy than a typical one.

If anyone has read this and has a link it would be much appreciated.

maybe he meant academic imigrants only, I did in my post anyway, though not sure myself even then why he takes that view, our picture of present times is not always spot on given we are so close to it, then again when academics come nowadays, I doubt there are many big thinkers as I don't think science, particularly physics has any or had any for many decades (physics stagnates for over fifty years now, no big things happen anymore, Dark stuffs can't be figured out for decades, QMechanics didn't go much further etc) and it might be true they come because they can get well paid positions such that are not found elsewhere

and I got my cuppa coffee @ hand now as it is start of the day for me

vanDivX

Its called descrimination due to a set of laws which do not belong in this forum.
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/280/5362/386
High skilled immigration continues on the rise but as you well said "our picture of present times is not always spot on given we are so close to it" and many facing the biggest decision of their lifes will reconsider. The period of Einstein was a welcoming period after a war but this is not the case now. Now it is a turbulent period in the middle of two wars and two possible wars.
