The latest posting of the "top 10" SF movies has some notable omissions...like "Blade Runner" and even more, "Dune". I like "The Fifth Element" and "Stargate"as well but obviously the so-called "epics" are much in favor. Also I suspect the voting was influenced (duh!) by box office receipts, more than originality or quality. Anyone got some favorites I missed?

Heck, none of those even make my top 20.
I'll work on MY list.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters. Monsters from the Id.

I really, really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function

Link???

You can't be referrig to any large scale serious vote. What top ten SciFi film list could possibly have The Fifth Element and omit Blade Runner?

Some of my favs are:

-Day after tomorrow
-Contact
-Armageddon
-Jurassic Parks

I like them because they all feature something that are either meaningful, great movie & still not THAT far from science fact even for Hollywood.

Second the Forbidden Planet.

1,000,000 BC - Any movie with Raquel Welch in those "clothes" gets my vote.

The Iron Giant... interesting. I'll have to try to find it as I loved The Incredibles. As for other animation Sci-fi, I really enjoyed Final Fantasy: Spirits from within.

"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson

Good list.

I'd add Alien, Brazil, Clockwork Orange, Matrix, Road Warrior, Solaris, Terminator - to any critical listing of SciFi movies.

Liquid Sky's a great movie!

And speaking of Punk/SciFi movies - I'd probably/definately have to add Repo Man to any SciFi best of list.
