Speaking from applicable experience, both the timeline and budget are VERY success oriented. I question the need from that same experience. We shall see.

It is also highly destabilizing, and will almost certainly cost much more than quoted.

We should not be funding an arms race in space.

The cost and risk aspects are astronomical, no pun intended.

I looked into this a little earlier this morning. There are many components that will need coordination. And even though advertised as a dome for America, world wide redundant surveillance systems are needed.

And several redundant AI controlling nodes will be necessary. Lots of continuous power.

Will require fossil power. Lots of power.

Our first generation AI systems will be wasteful and hot. Enough heat for small towns.

The good news is that now it is possible. Ballistic anticipation is no longer needed. With the improvement of lasers, and the improvement with radar, and other senors, hitting incoming maneuverable hyper speed bogies, can be done. We no longer have to plot it’s future course, only it’s present position. Laser ballistics. The closer it comes, the more it vaporizes.

I believe we could lease this system to others. Perhaps islands, cities, straits or canals.

The ultimate arms sale. The only violent danger left will be from your family/local neighbor.

Unless AI takes over.
