Although I am happy at the news that the British government has finally got off its backside and did something like this, I wonder how long the interest will last. With a looming election and threats of public funding cuts is it just a flash in the pan?

Don't think much of the logo either.

ESA and/or the UK space agency should make their own manned launcher. In fact, I think all G7 countries should have their owned manned launchers/programs.

That would be quite wasteful and expensive, IMHO.
Not necessarily. Imagine this (improbable) scenario :
- big agencies decide on a common vehicle,
- they create an international corporation, which builds them,
- everyone can have one, cheap, compared to doing it on their own.

Price would be probably relative to the political engagement - more = higher price, as we can learn from the history.

It would probably be even better, if they made a competition, and give project to the winner, or something along this line.
