Pretty far off topic, I'm going to split these off to a Venus Transit thread; especially since the next one is coming up in 2012.

I showed my kids the transit in 2004 before school by looking thru some exposed film (before I had a telescope). Pretty cool....

Looking forward to the next one.

It might well be we worth watching, since we might not be around to see the one after :

Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena and currently occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years.

Well, at least for me i doubt it, my driving sux ..
