The last time I watched I think I got a joke that I had missed before. Anyway I laughed out loud. I know many here are familiar with the movie so I was wondering if you think I am out in left field on this.

When they landed on Vogsphere (sp?) they kept getting hit in the face by the flyswatter creatures and the way to avoid it was to stop thinking. I had the idea that the Vogons' stupidity is just an evolutionary adaptation to their environment. Do you suppose that Douglas Adams had that in mind, or am I reading too much into it?

As I posted before, I found the Vogon portrayals in the referenced motion picture to be both flattering and accurate.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

When I noticed the difference between the old and the new it made me wonder what else was left out, but this Vogon thing has really got me excited that in addition to more, it will probably be funny too. I am definately going to read it!

Did you catch the original Marvin on Vogon in the movie?

I thought that was a nice touch.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. Yes! I watched that scene a lot. The camera panned around Marvin while following Zaphod. I thought it was great that he got so much time. He was being pretty quiet. I guess he only comlains if he knows you. It was funny later on when Zaphod kissed the wookie thing baby. Very presidential LOL

I finally got HGTTG today and skimmed through it while waiting for lenscrafters to make my new glasses. I haven't seen where they went to Vogsphere in the book yet but there is a section, at the back, about the movie and it was mentioned that Adams wrote the part about the flyswatters and, I guess, that the Magratheans (sp?) built vogsphere because someone had to do the boring jobs in the galaxy.

I'll read the book this weekend.

Yes, after the movie I too decided to read the original book, as I had not to that point in time. I had listened to the Restaurant/Universe book though years earlier.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT, ALERT, ALERT!!!!!!!

I'm really sorry putting this here, I did not even give it much thought until a minute later after posting. I am getting ready for tax season and new school classes and think my mind must have been slagged some when I read your post. I did enjoy the book, and it is as different as everyone said it was.

I just could not believe the way the book ended, I really looked to see of some pages were left out of my copy. And the response and actions the mice gave when they found out the answer was not coming made sense in some sort of perverted way I think.

Long live the answer of 42 to all questions that can be thought of.
