Locate Comet Tempel, the one that the Deep Impact spacecraft will crash into.

And while you're in that area of the sky, check out Jupiter and its moon system. I believe Jupiter's moons are about to be edge-on, so you may be able to see transits, occulations, and shadows across the Jovian globe. Check Sky and Telescope magazine or Astronomy Magazine. Good luck. Tell us what you saw.

there you go,somebody who knows more of what they are talking about, another suggestion would be buying the starry night software, i have used the pro version and backyard version, starry night pro is much better because there are a lot more features with the program, basically it gives you a real time skymap telling where everything is above your location, including comets, asteroids, stars and planets (obviously) and even satellites, i've managed a glimpse of the ISS quite a few times thanks to starry night

it's also a good tool to learn your way around the night sky because thereare options to label all of the objects and constellations making them easier to find once you get a clear night

This is an online class guide with some fair information. It's a non-science major course at my old department at Boston University. Might give you some decent information.

AS 102

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

The whirlpool galaxy (M51) is a good target right now. It is almost directly overhead.
