We'll never know who among us was right, but if you had to make a guess, will anybody ever come across the voyagers and play the record?

If yes, how do you imagine that scenario playing out? Will they understand anything?

And for the scientists among you is it possible that the voygers will spin around the whole milky way just to come back in a close distance to our solar system again and be picked by future humans?

  • Unlikely.
  • If they do find it then they would be a spacefaring species and thus they may be able to guess what it is trying to convey, but I think they would still struggle, the pular data on the record is now 58 years out of date from our perspective, by the time they find it, it will likely be tens of thousands or millions of human years out of date. It was a nice gesture, but utterly futile.
  • It is entirely conceivable that any of the space craft we have launched that are currently heading out of the Sun's gravity well, so Voyager 1&2, Pioneer 10%11 and New Horizons, will circumnavigate the entire galaxy unless they are destroyed by a collision of some type, however, the odds of them encountering the solar system are slim to zero due to the orbit of the solar system around the galaxy.
