Note that today, scientists are looking for life other than on Earth. For some reason some feel as though, that we are not the only galaxy with life.I mean, look how vast this universe is,we probably don't know where it ends at or how it began. But the point of the matter is that,i think its highly possible that we are not alone in this universe. This Universe is too big for only one civilization to live in.I mean,it can't be,i mean why is the universe so big anyway. Its like wasting up space,a vast amount of space.I believe something is out there far,far away, not to sound insane or anything, but thats just what i think. You can post pictures of certain galaxies close to Earth or far from Earth if you want to.Even galaxies that we don't know much about yet,or ones recently discovered.

You bring up a good point about wasted space. It appears that untold amounts of space are wasted even within galaxies. Just look at the vast amount of space between our solar system and the next nearest star to us, Proxima Centauri.<br /><br />As for galaxies, the nearest galaxy to us is Andromeda (M-31) at some 2 to 2.5 million light years!<br /><br />Whats between our galaxy and it? Largely wasted space, or maybe seemingly wasted space, we just don't know why as you said, so much of space seems wasted.<br /><br />Scientists believe life could exist in other galaxies or even star systems within our own galaxy because of the research they have done which has resulted in detection of the basic building block chemicals of life outside our Earthly environment.<br /><br />Life itself has yet to be detected and there are plenty of places to search within our galaxy. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><strong>My borrowed quote for the time being:</strong></p><p><em>There are three kinds of people in life. Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen...and those who do not know what happened.</em></p> </div>

For all that we think of ourselves as solid, we are mostly empty space between the various subatomic particles that comprise our structure. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p><font color="#666699"><em>"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff."</em>  -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

Good Point!...<br /><br />And to add to the original ...<br /><br /><br />I think it would be pretty hard for us to be alone here in our Galaxy the milky way...and impossible to be alone in the Universe.
