First I would like to say this is my first post on the site, so if I am under the wrong threed I apologize. Now this would be years away, however after watching one of the many programs about were space exploration is going, I had a thought. Would space importing, from activities such as mining, increase the Earth's mass, and if so would it affect its orbit.

Welcome to sdc, jturnipseed!

The orbit of a planet does not depend on its mass.

Importing enough stuff to add even 0.1% to the Earth's mass is almost inconceivable even to me, and I'm a guy who thinks lots and lots of things are possible that other folks here think will happen many decades after I do, or never.

I think that the far less than 0.1% figure is true even if you land a huge asteroid, over 10 miles diameter made mostly of metal.
